My Lip Ode to the 4 Seasons - Ombre Lips

Ombre of the Week ~ The 4 Seasons Lips

Finally getting out of Winter. The fight has been fierce! And it's been a long brutal winter in Chiberia. I decided to celebrate the 1st day of Spring (which snowed here btw) with 4 seasons lips. My lip ode to the seasons. Enjoy...

Revlon Legacy Limited Edition Lipsticks Review

Revlon re-released 5 lipsticks that were discontinued from way back when and voted back by fans. They are limited edition and in very limited quantities. I had frustrations in finding them when they were first rolled out into stores starting March 1st. With the consistent bad weather, I could see shipments being delayed to stores. Many people I spoke to who worked in the stores never even heard of them. The Revlon Customer Service rep said they were being released in Ulta, Walgreens, CVS and Kroger. Good luck in finding them if you are interested! (The display is very small, btw.) So many voiced their frustration on social media to Revlon. I know companies do listen to people on social media so keep voicing on! They do listen and hopefully will improve. Limited Edition lipsticks can be frustrating to find and companies are rolling out too many imo that even I can't keep up!

Snow Peach Lips
Snow Peach Lips ~ Rating: 5/5 ~ My fav!
My fav lippie from the collection is Snow Peach. It's such a pretty summery color. I kept thinking about how back in 1956 this is what women were wearing. Thinking of Marilyn Monroe. Although she wore a mix of reds. It's a very bright almost neon coral. My lippie did have a lot of slip - so a little goes a long way.

When I saw the ad for these lipsticks, the one that I was drawn to was the purple one! How vintage and how cool that in 1946 they were rocking purple lips? Well the purple in the tube is more of a shimmery plum. It's pretty and NOT old lady-like in any way because I'm sure the young people of that generation were the ones wearing this color!

Brown lipstick was hot in 1999. Fortunately I don't remember it. I have many brown lippies anyway. I'll have to emulate the look now. Good coverage and has that warm copper shimmer. Not one of my favs but for those of you who adore this look and are nostalgic about 1999~a definite must-have. And remember you're gonna party like it's 1999…

The sixties live on! In 1963, they were rocking a light peach lip. I can see Twiggy, flower power and psychedelic fashion now…lol. This lipstick -I don't know if it's just the one I got- had difficulty swiping the color on. Besides that I have so many of these kinds of lipsticks too with far superior coverage and scent (Revlon lippies are unscented). I still think it's a novel lippie to have.

What an elegant red! Classic 1958 red that is! It's a dark cool-toned red. I love having a piece of lipstick history! Good coverage and almost matte.

M.A.C. Viva Glam Rihanna Review

Viva Glam Rihanna

An absolutely gorgeous color! Released in January 2014, Rihanna adds a lippie to the Viva Glam collection. It's a frost too. But a really good one. It's a beautiful cool-toned red. Both the lipstick and the lip glass are winners. Plus it's for a good cause. If you haven't gotten this yet, check out the swatches below and drool!…lol. (And just like Viva Glam Nicki, this won't be around forever,
definitely get backups!)

Maybelline Dare to Be Bold Review

Maybelline Limited Edition "Dare to Be Bold" lippies.

They just had to! They just had to add 4 more lippies when I have all The Buffs! You're probably wondering whether any of these are worth a look. Well yes they are! And I wish I can get backups but oh well I don't have a shortage of lipstick so I'll be fine…lol. Onto the review…

Raw Reveal Lips
Rating: 5/5
A light taupe nude. Reminds me of the greyish nudes made popular by M.A.C.'s RiRi "Nude" and "Exclusive Event". This is the lightest taupe in comparison to the ones released in "The Buffs" collection namely "Touchable Taupe" and "Sinamon". Good opaque coverage and unique enough to get especially if you missed out on the others and/or like this lip look.

Nude Embrace Lips
Rating: 5/5
A mauve nude. I was pleasantly surprised with this lippie. While it didn't look like the color in the tube, it plays nicely on the lips in a soft mauvish nude. Unique to the other lipsticks and very natural, good opaque coverage ~ one of my favs.

A light warm pink. This was a beauty in the tube when I saw it. It reminded me of M.A.C.'s Viva Glam Nicki only a very light version of it. It's a very light warm pink. The only thing about this lippie is that it's streaky which is why I gave it a 4/5. I still love it though and it's very pretty.

Barely Bronze Lips
Rating: 4/5
A shimmery pink-toned nude. This was one of the first lippies I decided to try actually when I got them. The frost lippie. Actually it's more of a shimmery nude. Not really a bronze. In the photo I lined using M.A.C. Stone lip pencil which is why it looks darker but I was surprised at the coverage. A little bit of shimmer in lipsticks always makes lips look fuller too. A different finish from the rest of the collection and "The Buffs".

Maybelline rounded off The Buffs nicely with these 4 limited edition lippies.
They're different enough from the main collection and drool-worthy.

M.A.C. ~ A Fantasy of Flowers Review

M.A.C. 's A Fantasy of Flowers collection has 6 Lustre finish lipsticks. All evoking the gentle nature of springtime. I reviewed and tried all of them and here are my thoughts.
I wanted to create a helpful visual 'swipe guide' for the Lustre lippie. This lippie is the kind where you either like them or you don't. It's a misunderstood lippie in my opinion simply because of the popularity of mattes and liquid lipsticks. If you know what I'm talking about, feel free to skip this and scroll down to the swatches!

In any case, Lustre lippies -for me after using so many lippies- are basically 'gloss in a tube'. It's versatile in that it's buildable. You can wear it super sheer for just a hint of color on a low-key no makeup day. Or you can swipe to build coverage and achieve a color as close as possible to the tube color you see. They are not my fav finish by M.A.C. but I appreciate having them around when I don't want to go with a full-on bold lip, or want to add more focus to the eyes or just need a hint of color.

Please note: Since Lustre lippies are glossy, they don't last long on the lips. However you can line and fill-in your lips before applying to intensify color and make it last a little longer than it normally does.

Below I did 1-swipe, 3-swipes and 6-swipes. Although with me, I love swiping in general so I sometimes loose count 'cuz I just love applying lipstick! lol…

This is a soft coral Lustre lippie. While it looks like a bold and bright red-coral in the tube,
the color comes out like a soft play of coral on the lips. No matter how many times I swiped, I was unable to build the color up to the color in the tube. However it is a beautiful coral shade.

This is a soft plum Lustre lippie. Out of the 3 pinks in the collection, this pink is darker, bolder plum pink which looks lovely. It builds up nicely and is one of my favs.

This is a soft pink with subtle shimmer Lustre lippie. This is the second pink in the collection and different in that it has a subtle shimmer. It makes my lips appear fuller. Great pink lip color for spring!

This is a soft nude Lustre lippie. I gave this lippie a 4/5 rating probably because I have many nudes and similar Lustre lippies in this shade. However I have been reaching for this one more so as it pairs so nicely with a bold eye look. It also works when I have a no-makeup day. Very versatile lippie! If you don't have a Lustre lippie in a nude finish, make sure you add one to your collection. It's great to have a reliable go-to lippie that performs for you either way. Plus M.A.C. always releases these types of Lustre nude lippies in their collections. It's like a mainstay.

This is a soft peach Lustre lippie. Very pretty soft peach color. I gave this one a 4/5 because it does remind me of the colors in M.A.C.'s All About Orange collection of 2013. If you have any or all of those lippies, you aren't missing much with this lippie. For those of you who just love peachy lips, this is a must-have and of course if you are a lipstick collector. I haven't been reaching much for this one as I have so many similar lippies but I think I'll be putting this one into use as it starts to get warmer!

This is a soft light pink Lustre lippie. The 3rd pink lippie in the collection.
It's basically St. Germain's Lustre cousin. A very bright and light cute pink color.
Very pretty on the lips. Another of my favs.
