Kat von D Studded Kiss Lipsticks - Review

Kat von D Studded Kiss Lipsticks at Sephora

I just love new lipstick collections when they come out. When I hear 30 shades with new shades, reformulated, then I see the colors that are offered and Whoa! ...scented like Mac too…I'm there.

I got 6 shades.
Poe, Coven, Noble, Bauhau5, Sexer, and Wonderchilde.
It was hard to pick seriously but it was my birthday.
So far so good.
There are some things though.

Let's first start off with the most coveted lippie (next to Coven).
Which is Poe.
It is a shimmery navy.

For me wearing this inside in the indoor lighting of a dimly-lit living room for example,
it looks like a dark navy, almost black.
When I swatched it in-store —under the great lights— it looks pretty much like the picture below. Luckily I was able to capture the blue which has a tinge of purple to it.
It's a glitter lipstick because it has a gritty texture to it; not uncomfortable but I can feel it.
The color itself goes on well but as you build color, it does get a bit patchy.
I lined with Urban Decay Sabbath Eyeliner which is darker navy than the lip color.

I really dig this color.
It is a badass lippie.

I like the fact as I checked out all the testers at Sephora —swiping on the back of my hand endlessly— how Kat von D managed to feature pretty much a wide selection of the trendiest colors in lipsticks.
Really great.
For Poe fans, this is kinda like an accessible version of the cult fav, dark blue lippie that is always out of stock (Melt's DGAF). Although Poe was sold out when it hit the shelves, not every Sephora has clientele that flock to it just to grab that one blue lipstick! I was able to find it elsewhere and at the time of this post, Poe is still available online.

POE LIPS
Rating: 4/5

Poe Lips - shimmery navy

My swatching frenzy at Sephora produced this lovely combo below.
My daughter loved Thin Lizzy and Gothica which looked gorgeous on her skin tone btw!

Wonderchilde is another shimmery neon purple glitter lipstick. So putting it on top of Poe made it patchy and uneven as you can see however the resulting knock-out purple was phenomenal! Lined with Urban Decay Vice and Sabbath Eyeliners.

WONDER POE LIPS
Rating: 4/5

Wonder Poe Lips - Poe topped with Wonderchilde

SEXER LIPS
Rating: 5/5

Sexer Lips - iridescent fluorescent pink
I had been neglecting my hot pinks lately. I am so glad I got this one. I couldn't stop staring at my lips. LOL! It's a very bright pink lippie. I used Mac Embrace Me LE lipliner. You can use any hot pink liner such as NYX Hot Pink or Mac Shocking Value. This lippie has iridescence which makes it very different from say Mac Candy Yum Yum. I love that I can mix this lippie with other shades too. I added Sexer on top of Bauhau5

Bauhau5 + Sexer Lips - a lipmix = hot magenta!

BAUHAU5 LIPS
Rating: 4/5

Bauhau5 Lips - matte berry
I opted to get this version of Bauhau5 first. I swatched the Everlasting Liquid Lipstick but wasn't too sure if it would work for me. Some of them wear thin on me. However I wound up getting the Bauhau5 in the liquid version as well which I love. It turned out great and is much more pigmented than this one. But I kept this one as the color does remind me of Mac Heaux LE. Plus it looked great on my daughter as well. I lined using Mac Vino (perm). It is not as opaque and you do need to swipe. The matte wears comfortably.

Bauhau5 Lips - Guest Lippie Model: Ellie

NOBLE LIPS
Rating: 3/5

Noble Lips - matte peach
When I swatched this in store, it looked lovely. Right up my alley of peachy nudes that I've been wearing mostly all summer long. However when I got it on my lips, it was like….dry. Drier that Mac Strip Poker or Riot House! Ugh! Some folks like the feel of an uber dry lipstick. And some like the chalky lip look. By itself it's not so bad. You do get used to it but I decided I needed to add a little something on top of it. I lined using Mac Cream'OSpice lip liner.
I added Too Faced Country Star La Creme which was actually too watery for my lips to wear by itself. So I added it on top and got just what I love. It pairs perfectly!
A beautiful peachy lip!

(Ratings on Noble and Country Star lipstick are for the individual lippie's performance.
When combined they function at a Rating of 5/5!)

COUNTRY STAR LIPS
Rating: 3/5
Country Star Lips - peachy lippie (on top of Noble)

The remaining 2 lippies I have to post are: Coven and Wonderchilde (by itself). So stay tuned! Swatches will be posted on Instagram and Facebook as well.

Retails: $21
Available at: Sephora.com

M.A.C. Moody Blooms Sheen Supreme Lipsticks - Review

Moody Blooms 2014 Sheen Supreme (5 LEs; 1 Perm)

M.A.C. released the Moody Blooms collection for summer on June 26th.
A collection of Sheen Supreme lippies that is everything about exotic night-blooming florals.
I love the Sheen Supreme lipstick formula, for me it's a gellified lipglass.
Creamy and moisturizing. Pigmented yet translucent.

They wear pretty well however I did notice that if you are outside in extremely hot weather for long periods of time, even with a good lipliner, they will start to bleed. Only natural because of the humidity. This was after a couple of hours of wear though before I noticed the bleeding.
I never had the problem of bleeding though during the cooler seasons.
So far I've tried the Lust Extract and it is an electrifying shade.
Absolute stunner!
UPDATE: Only 1 more lippie to post (Quite the Thing!)
Swatches posted on Instagram and Facebook as well.

RECAP:
All I can say is that I personally love the Sheen Supreme formula.
They are all highly pigmented yet have a translucence to them.
I think of them in terms of a "gellified lipglass".
They aren't sticky.
I don't have my hair catching on them.
They leave my lips moisturized.
All these lippies have a Rating of 5/5.

The collection features 6 lippies:
Quite the Thing! - Deep Blue Plum
(consistently sold out even though it's a perm)
I've tried this one just need to post a shot.
It's a pink mauvey red.
It's lovely and perfect.
No wonder it's sold out!
It's like the Sheen Supreme version of Mac Heaux imo.

Lust Extract LE - Electric Violet
My fav. It's bright and beautiful. Stunning!

Venomous Violet LE - Deep Berry
A pleasant surprise! Great for fall.
Darker than Mac Pure Heroine and creamier.

Pheromonal LE - Dark Blue Pink
Great to have a darker pink. This one is lovely as well.

Phosphorescent LE - Electric Pink Coral
Just pretty. Great with a simply smokey matte eye.

Moody Blooms LE - Bronze Plum
Reminds me of Mac Can't Get Enough which is lighter (peachy bronze).

Retails: $17.00
3.6g/0.12 US oz

Lust Extract Lips - electric violet pink - Lined with Mac Magenta
Rating: 5/5

Venomous Violet Lips - deep berry - Lined with Mac Nightmoth
Rating: 5/5

Pheromonal Lips - dark blue pink - Lined with Mac Embrace Me LE
Rating: 5/5

Phosphorescent Lips - electric pink coral - Lined with Mac Cherry
Rating: 5/5

Moody Bloom Lips - bronze plum - Lined with Mac Creamola
Rating: 5/5

What's your fav Sheen Supreme?

L'Oreal Magic Skin Beautifers Review

Magic Skin Beautifiers

L'Oreal came out with two new Beauty Balm creams.
So are they worth it?
Are they any different from the regular L'Oreal BB creams? Well yes and no.

They are similar as the regular L'Oreal BB creams in terms of
having beautifying beads that transform on the skin upon application.
The results however either reduce redness or add warmth.

I like the Anti-Redness BB Cream. The cream is green but transforms on the skin. I liken it to those makeup correctors that are green which you apply to areas that are red. It's basically the same effect. You can apply it to your entire face if you suffer from redness or just to the areas that need it to neutralize the redness and even out the complexion.

The Anti-Fatigue BB Cream one doesn't work so well on my fair skin. It turns into an apricot color on the skin so it looks orangey on me. It reminds me of the Agnes B. Apricot Cream (from a while back if anyone remembers that) that are meant to 'warm up' the skin to make it look refreshed. If you have a warmer complexion and/or a tan, this can add warmth and even out your skintone. Plus it's light enough to wear instead of foundation and hydrating.

Retails: $7.99
1.0 fl. oz.
Available from drugstore.com, Ulta Beauty and Walgreens.com.

Kleancolor Femme Lipstick - LS1276 Review

Image from Kleancolor.com

Femme Lipstick comes in an assortment of shades.
This collection features "cool" shades of grey, silver, blue, teal, purple,
with some rose and pale cream beiges thrown in.
The site merely has it labeled LS1276.

I've tried on all of the shades which are:

#13 Snow Flakes

#14 Lady Glory

#15 Victorian Era

#16 Golden Rule

#17 French Garden

#18 Sealed Secret

#19 Teal Attraction

#20 Cruise Line

#21 Ocean Streak

They cost a mere $1.99.
Some online retailers sell them for $1.00 but are often sold out.
I purchased mine directly from Kleancolor.com as they had all the colors in stock.
Some tubes arrived damaged with either the tip getting smooshed or the tube falling out.

These are what I like to call #twodollarlippies
Don't expect a lot.
I go in with low expectations.
Sometimes I'm pleasantly surprised.
All these lippies have a strong scent.
I've noticed that the scent is not necessarily consistent.
Some smell downright pleasant actually like #6 Fiesta.
Kinda like Fabuloso.
You definitely need a good lip prep and liners to get the most outta these.
If you can deal with the scent then you can rock these lippies.
This review are my 1st impressions.
I will give all these lippies another go even the ones I didn't care for so you know that
they won't just be collecting dust in the drawer!
They are a novelty in the world of lipsticks where you get play with
so many different colors for a very low low price.

#13 Snow Flakes Lips - light gray
Rating: OK
This lippie is streaky.
It needs a lip prep and liner.
I was able to create a subtle gradient however you can see how uneven it is.
Woulda rocked if this was opaque!
I lined using NYX Gray Eyeliner.

#14 Lady Glory Lips - metallic silver
Rating: Meh.
I wished this turned out like #9 Oro and #16 Golden Rule.
The tube was damaged and loose.
The application was gritty.
I lined and filled-in with NYX Platinum Eyeliner but that didn't help.
The gritty texture kept moving it all around.
They really need to improve this!
I lined using NYX Platinum Eyeliner.

#15 Victorian Era Lips - neutral beige
Rating: OK
This lippie is very pale and streaky. It needed a liner so I used Mac Stone.
Which gave it some dimension. By itself, it's so pale that it made my lips
disappear into my face. Prepping and lining helped a bit.

#16 Golden Rule Lips - metallic gold
Rating: Thumbs Up!
A-mazing!
I was WOWED!
Rare to find a gold lipstick that goes on with full coverage and pigmentation.
The #9 Oro was great but this is perfection.
I lined using NYX Glitzy Gold Eyeliner.

#17 French Garden Lips - pink beige
Rating: Thumbs Up!
This lippie is a chalky matte nude.
If you love matte & chalky then this is your lippie.
It reminds me of Mac Strip Poker.
I lined using Mac HipnHappy.

#18 Sealed Secret Lips - dark metallic purple
Rating: Thumbs Up!
This reminded me of Maybelline's LE Midnight Plum lipstick
only as the metallic version of it.
No problems with application; bit blotchy (as typical with purple lippies) but nothing major.
I lined using Mac Vino.

#19 Teal Attraction Lips - teal blue
Rating: Thumbs Up!
This is a pretty decent teal blue lippie.
It's not on par with NYX Macaron Pistachio in terms of opacity and color
(which is more of a minty teal) but it has good pigmentation.
Some uneven coverage as you can see.
I lined using NYX Azure Eyeliner.

#20 Cruise Line Lips - blue
Rating: Thumbs Up!
This is a pretty decent deep blue lippie.
This is a darker blue when compared to NYX Macaron Blue Velvet.
Again some uneven coverage as you can see.
I lined using NYX Sunrise Blue Eyeliner.

#21 Ocean Streak Lips - bright metallic purple
Rating: Thumbs Up!
I like this one even though - as with all low-end purple lippies- it's blotchy.
Looks pretty.
It has a metallic glitter texture but doesn't feel as gritty as #14 Lady Glory.
I lined using Urban Decay Ransom Eyeliner.

My top favs from this LS1274 collection: #16 Golden Rule and #21 Ocean Streak.

Kleancolor Femme Lipstick - LS1274 Review

Image from Kleancolor.com

Femme Lipstick comes in an assortment of shades.
This collection features "autumn" shades of rose, gold, brown, burgundy.
The site merely has it labeled LS1274.

I've tried on all of the shades which are:

#7 Soft Rose

#8 Cranberry Mix

#9 Oro

#10 Chocolate

#11 Brown

#12 Burnt Sugar

They cost a mere $1.99.
Some online retailers sell them for $1.00 but are often sold out.
I purchased mine directly from Kleancolor.com as they had all the colors in stock.
Some tubes arrived damaged with either the tip getting smooshed or the tube falling out.

they won't just be collecting dust in the drawer!
They are a novelty in the world of lipsticks where you get play with
so many different colors for a very low low price.

#7 Soft Rose Lips - mauvish pink with shimmer
Rating: Thumbs Up!
I think I found the Kleancolor version of the #kylielip…lol.
Not bad; has a touch of shimmer.
I lined using Mac Whirl.

#8 Cranberry Lips - metallic red
Rating: Meh.
I had hoped this would be rich in red pearlescence.
Nope, it was flat, no slip whatsoever.
Extreme difficulty getting the color going.
It has glitter particles in it and really isn't a metallic.
Coulda been better!
I lined using Mac Cherry.

#9 Oro Lips - antique gold metallic
Rating: Thumbs Up!
I was hoping this wouldn't disappoint and it did not!
Went on nicely; great coverage; pigmented.
For a metallic gold lipstick that's pretty good.
I lined using Mac Cream'OSpice.

#10 Chocolate Lips - darkened orange
Rating: Thumbs Up!
I initially lined using Mac Pink Treat thinking it was close to the color of the tube,
but I started swiping and whoa! It's orange. A pretty darkened one.
Kinda looks more like butterscotch than chocolate.
Not as sheer; pigmented; didn't have to swipe as much.

#11 Brown Lips -  brown
Rating: Thumbs Up!
This lippie was the 1st one I tried on.
It's really nice.
It's a buildable sheer color not as dark as it appears in the tube.
Scent is tolerable for this and it appears to fade.
I lined using Mac Chestnut.

#12 Burnt Sugar Lips - burgundy red
Rating: OK
This one arrived damaged.
The tip was smooshed and the tube fell out when I opened it.
Not the best experience when you're trying on new lipstick.
I lightly lined with Mac Nightmoth.
It's a sheer, buildable color.
But you need to swipe as it wears thin on the lips.
Filling-in with lipliner may enhance the color.

My top favs from this LS1274 collection: #9 Oro and #11 Brown.

What is your fav Kleancolor lippie?

Kleancolor Femme Lipstick - LS1273 Review

Image from Kleancolor.com

Femme Lipstick comes in an assortment of shades.
This collection features "romantic" shades of pink, peach, red and berry.
The site merely has it labeled LS1273.

I've tried on all of the shades which are:

#1 Tea Rose

#2 Pink

#3 Georgia

#4 Radiant Red

#5 Garnet

#6 Fiesta

They cost a mere $1.99.
Some online retailers sell them for $1.00 but are often sold out.
I purchased mine directly from Kleancolor.com as they had all the colors in stock.
Some tubes arrived damaged with either the tip getting smooshed or the tube falling out.

they won't just be collecting dust in the drawer!
They are a novelty in the world of lipsticks where you get play with
so many different colors for a very low low price.

#1 Tea Rose Lips - neutral rose pink
Rating: Thumbs Up!
Perhaps because it reminds me of Mac Bijou.
It's very pretty color.
Went on without any problems.
It's very creamy and glossy.
I lined using Urban Decay Wicked.

#2 Pink Lips - pearlescent cool pink
Rating: Kinda Meh.
It doesn't look anything like the tube color.
It's very sheer, flat, plain pink.
Not pigmented at all.
There are some pearl particles in it.
I had to line and fill-in with Mac Embrace Me just to get it to show up.
Disappointed that it doesn't look anything like the tube color.
This coulda been way better!

#3 Georgia Lips - frosty peach pink
Rating: Thumbs Up!
My lips are fresh like a Georgia peach!
I like this one along with the #1 Tea Rose even if it's a frost.
It went on without any troubles.
I lined using Urban Decay Naked.

#4 Radiant Red Lips - glossy red

Rating: Thumbs Up!
I love red lippies.
This one goes on like a gloss so for me it wears like that.
Very pretty.
I lined using Mac Cherry.

#5 Garnet Lips - raspberry pink red
Rating: Thumbs Up!
This lippie wears more like a sheer lip balm in a tube.
It's like MLBB and kinda like the Revlon Butters.
You may have noticed some of the wax on the side which
I was able to wipe away.
I lined using Mac Beet.

#6 Fiesta Lips - berry fuchsia
Rating: Thumbs Up!
This lippie is very reminiscent of Mac Rebel.
This will look gorg on deeper skin tones.
As per usual with low-end purple lipstick:
More pigmented, more slip, blotchy if you don't prep or apply too much.
Purple undertones will look diff on everybody because of individual lip undertones.
Scent-wise is the strongest. For me itt actually smells very fresh.
Noticeably different from the others in that regard.
I lined using Mac Currant.

My top favs from the LS1273 collection: #1 Tea Rose and #2 Radiant Red.
